Carla Wright was born in Madrid, Spain and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. She began art training at the age of seven and by the age of 15 she was accepted into the Grays School of Art in Aberdeen. She later moved to the United States with her husband Eldon, becoming an award winning, internationally known artist that has taken her artwork, including her landscapes and added a unique modern twist.
She employs the classic impasto technique of laying thick strokes of oil paint with a palette knife onto wood panels, creating textural depictions of beautiful elements in nature such as trees, flowers and landscapes. Through whimsical color schemes and uncommon perspectives, she constructs extraordinarily unique, abstract worlds that seem to jump off the picture plane.
