Canadian artist Yvonne Opalinski received a BFA from OCAD University in 2009 and an MFA from the University of the Arts London in 2016. Principally based in Toronto, Opalinski investigates motion within art, combining digital technology, animation, music, painting, printmaking and gilding. She is interested in critical theory and its influence on art practice.
Her art concentrates on the notion of movement as an invitation to understanding artistic intention. The work examines movement of the immaterial to the material of thought into action. She is interested in the resultant metamorphosis of empowered or left insubstantial as a consequence of these interactions. Specifically, her process focuses on the dynamic of change and the way its outcomes are captured in the visual narrative of an artwork.
